Why was Sudbury placed in Mandatory Outdoor Water Restriction?
Under the authority of the MassDEP Water Management Act, permittees not meeting their residential gallons per capita day (RGPCD) standard for the preceding year must implement Calendar Triggered Restrictions from May 1st through September 30th for Nonessential Outdoor Water Use. In 2010 Sudbury's exceeded its RGPCD. As part of this standard, whenever a drought advisory or higher is declared by the Massachusetts Drought Management Task Force, Sudbury must implement Mandatory Nonessential Outdoor Water Use Restriction.

During Mandatory Restriction When Is Outdoor Water Use Permitted?
Nonessential outdoor water use is permitted ONE DAY per week, per household, as assigned by Precinct Number. Water use is ONLY allowed on your assigned precinct day BEFORE 9 a.m. or AFTER 5 p.m. Weekend Nonessential Water Use during Mandatory Restriction is strictly prohibited.

What is the Precinct Schedule?
Precinct 1: Monday, Before 9 a.m. or after 5 p.m.
Precinct 2: Tuesday, Before 9 a.m. or after 5 p.m.
Precinct 3: Wednesday, Before 9 a.m. or after 5 p.m.
Precinct 4: Thursday, Before 9 a.m. or After 5 p.m.
Precinct 5: Friday, Before 9 a.m. or After 5 p.m.

Business must follow the precinct schedule in which their building is located.
Nonessential Water Use during Mandatory Restriction is prohibited on Saturday and Sunday.

What Trigger's Sudbury's Outdoor Restrictions as designated by MassDEP?
From May 1st through September 30th whenever the Streamflow at the Concord River (below River Meadow Brook, at Lowell) falls below assigned criteria for (3) consecutive days Mandatory Water Restriction for Nonessential Outdoor Water Use will be placed in effect.

What is Sudbury's Assigned Criteria for Mandatory Outdoor Restriction?
From May 1st through June 30th below 427 cubic feet per second for (3) consecutive days From July 1st through September 30th below 156 cubic feet per second for (3) consecutive days

Once In Place How Long Will Mandatory Restriction Be In Effect?
Mandatory Water Restriction for Nonessential Outdoor Water Use will be implemented and remain in effect until the Concord River Streamflow meets or exceeds the trigger guideline (as described above) for seven (7) consecutive days or a Drought Advisory or higher is declared by the Massachusetts Drought Management Task Force.
