Hudson Road Water Main Construction Project Begins, June 7

Tuesday, June 7
Water service on Babe Ruth Drive will be temporarily suspended during the hours of 8 am-3 pm (approx.) allowing for water main construction. Outage duration is a best estimate based on past water infrastructure events it is not an exact time. Households located on Babe Ruth Drive should make arrangements to be without water during this period.

What to expect once water is restored? Those in close proximity to this area of town may experience fluctuating pressure (air in pipes) or discolored water (mineral sediment lifting from the bottom of the pipes and traveling with the water-flow inside the main.) Once water is restored running a cold tap briefly will assist in clearing your service line of air and minerals.

Is the water safe to drink? Slight discoloration may sometimes linger for a few hours, it is not harmful to your health and only temporarily affects the appearance of the water, it does not influence water quality. Water conditions typically improve overnight.

Wednesday, June 8 – Road Closure
Hudson Road at Babe Ruth Drive 9:30 am-3 pm.

Traffic will be detoured around the work zone and the detour will include Fairbank Road and Maynard Road. Hudson Road will be open to local traffic only on Babe Ruth Drive but there will be no passage allowed through the construction zone from 9:30 am-3 pm. Residents observing road closure signs along Hudson Road may pass through these sign to access their residences but there will be no passage through the construction zone at Babe Ruth Drive. The roadway closure is for one day, Wednesday, June 8.

Thursday, June 9 thru Project End (approx June 24)

Construction Hours:
8 am-3 pm, Monday-Friday

Construction Zone:
Hudson Road at the intersection of Babe Ruth Drive to the Fairbank Community Center (40 Fairbank Road)

Travel:
Travel thru the construction zone will be limited to alternating traffic along Hudson Road. Those traveling along Hudson Road should be prepared to stop for alternating traffic. Please allow for extra time for passage through the construction zone.

Detour Map

Outages:
Periodic planned water outages may be necessary. Those located near to this quadrant of town are advised to sign-up to receive important alerts via Reverse-911

Driveway Access:
Driveway access will be maintained. In the event it becomes necessary to block a driveway for a short period of time (usually less than 4 hours) the construction contractor will attempt to contact the homeowner/occupant to coordinate and minimize inconveniences.

Thank you for your patience during this project.

Please direct questions regarding this project to our administrative office 978-443-6602, during regular business hours.
