Water Rate Increase: On Tuesday, January 24, 2024 the Board of Water Commissioners voted to approve a 4.3% increase to the water rates. The new rates take effect beginning with the February 2024 meter reading and corresponding read date and will be reflected on the Q4 statement for the billing period of February-May 2024.
A typical residential water users will see an overall increase of about $5.47 per quarter, or $21.88 per year. An average customer uses about 19,000 gallons of water per quarter. To avoid a significant rate increase, a careful effort was made to minimize the impact of inflation for the next fiscal year budget. The rate increase is primarily due to an increase in utilities, supplies and services utilized by the District. To minimize the impact to customers, help promote water conservation, and provide funding for the operations and maintenance of the water system, an inclining block strategy is used for determining the water rates.
