Modified Water Main Flushing Begins October 14th

Restricted to Dead End Water Mains / COVID-19

This fall our flushing program has been modified to minimize discoloration of water while residents remain home due to the COVID-19 outbreak.  Only dead end water mains will be flushed (typically located on cul de sacs.)  Two staff will be flushing simultaneously; one beginning on the North side (Route 117 area) of Town and move south/east, and the second beginning in the Landham Road area moving north/west.

  • Flushing Begins: Wednesday, October 14th
  • Flushing Hours: 7:30 am – 3:00 pm each weekday
  • Anticipated End Date: Friday, November 20th
  • Flushing is weather permitting

Flushing may impact the water in homes. Before running washing machines during this time residents should ensure their water is not cloudy, which indicates the presence of minerals. Residents should also bypass their filtering systems, including water softeners and refrigerator filters for a day or two following the flushing. If water appears cloudy, residents should run cold water in a bathtub until running clear.
