Job Posting: Water Treatment Plant Operator I

Sudbury Water District (the District) is accepting applications/resumes for one full-time, experienced Water Treatment Plant Operator. The position is part of the Water Treatment Plant operations crew and report directly to the Operations Manager as required. Minimum qualifications strictly apply.

Desired Qualifications:

• 3-5 years of positive performance in the municipal drinking water industry.
• Preference given to candidates with construction and plumbing experience or other relevant specialized skills.

Essential Functions:

• Computer experience, working with iPads for data collection.
• Serve as an experienced Distribution Technician.
• Significant knowledge of the operation and maintenance of distribution system equipment.
• Perform scheduled and emergency repair of pipes, valves, and hydrants.
• Operate heavy equipment (e.g., lawnmower tractor, backhoe, forklift, dump truck).
• Apply critical thinking skills and serve as part of a high-functioning team.
• Model superior internal and external customer service.
• Work outside in poor weather conditions and serve after-hours on-call or in emergency situations; perform manual labor duties, including lifting 50 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Possess a Massachusetts Drinking Water Treatment 1 Certification (T-1).
• Possess a Massachusetts Drinking Water Distribution 1 Certification (D-1).
• Possess a valid Massachusetts Driver’s license and clean driving record (commercial driver’s license preferred).
• Must be available for call outs, evenings, holidays, and weekend work.
• Must live within 30 minutes of the Sudbury Water District office.
• Valid Massachusetts driver license and good driving record required.

Compensation and Benefits:

Hourly wage range: $25.11 -$34.62. The District offers a competitive benefits package, including medical, and dental coverage, 12 paid holidays, and participation in the Massachusetts Public Employees Retirement System.
