Note:
As with any underground utility infrastructure work, unforeseen conditions may arise and could impact a larger area than anticipated, if this happens, we will post updates here, and make all reasonable efforts to keep affected residents informed of any changes.
Homes and businesses in close proximity to this area of town may experience fluctuating pressure (air in pipes) or discolored water (caused by water-flow pattern shifts, causing mineral sediment to lift from the bottom of the pipes and traveling with the water-flow inside the main.) Running your water after construction is complete from a cold tap briefly will assist in clearing your service line of air and minerals.
During a water outage:
Try not to operate water faucets, dishwashers, or washing machines. This will prevent air from entering your plumbing.
Once water service and system pressure are restored:
Flush your plumbing lines by opening a large tap while all other taps remain closed. A bathtub faucet is ideal for this task, because they have the largest tap. Open the cold-water valve in the bathtub, listen for hissing and spitting, a sign that air remains in the line. Run the water to flush sediment (minerals) until it is clear, and no additional air bubbles are released.
Is the water safe to drink?
Slight discoloration may sometimes linger for a few hours, it is not harmful to your health and only temporarily affects the appearance of the water, it does not influence water quality. Water conditions typically improve overnight.
