Preparing for the Temporary Water Service Outage

Affected customers should take the following precautions before work begins:

  • Store an adequate supply of drinking water (approximately one gallon per person per day.)
  • Fill clean containers with water for cooking and food preparation.
  • Store water for basic cleaning and sanitation needs.
  • Fill a bathtub or other large container with water for toilet flushing, if desired. If necessary, approximately one gallon of water poured directly into the toilet bowl will initiate a flush.

Once Water Service Is Restored

Customers should:

  • Slowly open a cold-water faucet and allow the water to run until it is clear before resuming normal water use.
  • If water appears discolored after service is restored, avoid using hot water until the cold-water supply runs clear. This can help prevent sediment from being drawn into the household hot-water system.
  • If discoloration persists after allowing the cold water to run, contact the Sudbury Water District at (978) 443-6602.

The Sudbury Water District appreciates your patience and cooperation as we complete this necessary work to maintain the reliability of the public water system. We apologize for any inconvenience this work may cause and thank you for your understanding.
